HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!

Dick Clark will appear tonight, somehow, someway. Ryan Seacrest - who in the hell..... Anyway. Enjoy the festivites if you have any. Don't drink and drive. I am going home and will stay there until the morning light. Hungover... maybe. So, here is to a good 2009. Not sure where America is headed, by the Senate races, not good. So, I will remain an optimist and hope for the best. When we are down and out, that is when Americans shine. Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars. Thanks Casey Kasem (is he still alive?)

My daughter Audrey just turned 1. What a trip!

Peace and love in 2009

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3791174

The story above says it all about my homeboy Plaxico. The downward spiral begins. The last part is probably the best: A letter from Allstate says Burress neglected to pay his premiums. How can someone that makes millions of dollars not pay premiums on a $140,000 Mercedes? Beats me. Merry Christmas Plaxico, no matter what you have done. Your career is basically over and you have made your money. Plaxico - try some income redistrubution - alot of us out here are struggling.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Enjoy the holidays and be safe and I might see you next year....

Pinky the Loveable Cat

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQrMD021B7k

This is about 4 years old. I found a Unknown Poet poem from 2004 and wanted to post it. Rumors have found that the poem was created due to this video that went out on e-mail at work.

Classic.

Pinky the Loveable Cat

Oh Pinky, what a good cat you are
Each time I think of you, I look at my scar

Here a scratch, there a scratch
There is not another cat that could match

The hell I go through when I pick you up
That scratch the other day almost made me throw up

Blood, blood everywhere you look
If I could, I would slam your paw in a book

Your love for me exceeds your hissing
My favorite shoes are covered in your pissing

You use my leg as your scratching post
You Pinky are the feline I love the most

Come here and give me a kiss
Pinky says: PPUUURRR and hiss, hiss hiss

What the F, Pinky the Loveable cat
Definitely, your claws and teeth are where its at

Go kill a mouse and not my groin
Or you do not get a piece of pork tenderloin

Oh, Pinky its just our friends down the street
Pinky is a cat, that can’t be beat

some TV scares me

As you all have seen. I watch a lot of TV / Movies. I probably shouldn't, but I do. So, I was flippin channels Friday night and TLC had a follow up on a documentary from back in 1995. It was about 2 girls who back then were 5 and did those kid pagents. Makeup and glittery dresses and singing and dancing. Creepy. When a child has a lot of makeup on and their mother is supporting it by making sure you do every move right, is creepy. Now these kids are like 17 or 18 and seeing where they are now. So, one girl quit pagents like 2 years later. The other girl is still living the dream and her mom and grandmother are with her every step of the way. It was kinda sad. I even think some win cars when they are young. What in the hell... I just think some parents (won't blame mothers or grandmothers entirely) are greedy and using their childs appearance for cash money. Anyway I was kinda creeped out by these girls.

Movies, Movies, Movies

The Box Office seems to be doing well from some reports. People love their entertainment. See, I am not the regular movie type. Box office hits and all (I do want to see The Dark Knight). Over the Thanksgiving Holiday I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I have been waiting 20 years for this!!!!!!!!! (just joking). I would have been fine with the last one. Hollywood thinks the American public are stupid. I can understand people going to the movies to check it out. I would have only watched it for free. That is precisly what happened. A family member rented it on DVD. That's free to me. If it's free, it's for me. I know, be careful what I wish for.....
anyway, this movie.....sucked. It was the same old same old. Too many far fetched action scenes. Then (I don't want to give it away) aliens are in the story. Aliens? Yup, communists and aliens. To each their own.

I have seen a couple of good movies on cable. Adaptation with Nicolas Cage, strange but good flick and I working on finishing About Schmidt w/ Jack Nicholson.

So, Roger Ebert I am not.
Nor am I Betsy Pickle (she is the movie critic for the Knoxville paper)

Wonder how you get that job??????

The Plaxico Burress Situation

If you don't know what I am talking about... it's ok. This gentleman is a wide receiver for the New York Giants in the NFL. He is, I think 31 years old and gets paid alot of money to play football. Plus, the Giants are the defending champs and are doing well this year. Now, back to the situation. HE SHOT HIMSELF IN THE LEG WITH HIS HANDGUN IN A CLUB IN MANHATTAN. Ok, think about that............I will pause and let you think.........What is the first question that runs through your mind? Some people might say....gosh, I hope he is alright. I understand that. My question was...............WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING BRING A GUN TO A CLUB ANYWAY?????? ESPN reports the incident. No mention of this... he does have a consealed handgun permit. So, what's the problem you say? It's from Florida and expired in May 2008. New York ain't Florida and it was November. Two things don't match up. Now, the talk is....will he play again... sniff sniff. WHO CARES????? He evidently was A) Concerned about being jumped or B) Poppin a cap in someone's arse. I will side with B. ESPN reports that Plaxico (what kind of name is that, anyway) is facing some charges (Thank God) and could face some time in tha SLAMMA. Which I and Michael Bloomberg (Mayor of NYC) agree he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Let's see if that happens. This guy sounds like trouble and I wouldn't want him on my team - he might shoot me.
Prediction - No time in jail, probably probation. Suspended for rest of year and may not play for the Giants next year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love this week...... food, family, fun.....and lots of sports. Not much going on. Trying to sell the house (not the perfect time) and get ready to eat lots of food. This will be a time to reflect on what we are thankful for. I will give you my list.

1) Baby Audrey (who turns 11 months on 11/29) and Judi (being married to a wonderful woman)
2) Two Rivers Church (continue to help me grow spirtually)
3) Family (be careful wherever you all travel - drive or fly safe)
4) Having a job (enough said)
5) Glad UT and Duke basketball off to a good start. UT is 3-0 and Duke is 5-0

Keep it real - even when it goes wrong

We'll see.......

I am not sure what to say today. It is a bitter defeat. McCain was not my first choice. It's sad to see what Republicans have become and need to move to what we stand for. We'll see what Obama does, he's got a steep hill to climb. We'll see about the economy, Iraq and gas prices. It has to get better before it gets any worse. I am glad it's over. I am glad that the eastern part of Tennessee remains Republican territory. The change people wanted, they are gonna get. We don't know what kind of change is ahead.

Today is not in the hands of the candidates

Little reminder - we all can get caught up in the he said she said riff raff of politics. Frankly, I am tired of it (a little). This is in the hands of the voters and whomever gets the most votes. I am now praying for the nation itself. Not for a candidate, not for a party. This country was founded on Christian principles. Some people are afraid we are drifting away from that. I do. I look around and see how much things have changed. There is a price for freedom. It is now in the hands of God and whomever gets elected, needs all the help they can get. Vote today!!!

Joe the Plumber to the rescue

Thank you Joe - not "three letter word: JOBS Biden" Joe the fake, back-taxing, McCain stooge placed in Toledo, OH neighborhood waiting for Obama to shake hands. Well, at least that is the description the mainstream media portrays. Talk about someone getting smeared. Someone told me yesterday at work, that Joe is not a "licenced" plumber plus he owes $1,000 in back taxes.......SO? Sounds like Joe had a legimate question. "I'm getting ready to buy a company that makes $250,000 to $280,000 dollars a year, your new tax plan is going to tax me more isn't it?" .........now, really...what is the problem with that question???? So, if you hear Obama's plan of "spread the wealth" in which he so elquently used to many other wonderful sounding words - tax credit, tax cuts to 95% of everyone, - which is a croc, 30-40% don't pay taxes and they get a "tax cut"??........ Socialism? Income Redistribution? Is this what this country needs? Joe asked a simple question and got some crazy answer, Obama sounds nice doesn't he? Give to others that don't have. Just a little advice....Don't make more money - you'll pay more taxes and it will be given to those to who don't pay any at all. Nice.. real nice. Just like giving 47 million people healthcare - including 12 million illegals? Just want I want to pay for.

TWO WORDS: Personal Responsibility - something we know nothing about anymore. Do not let the Government take care of you - it won't happen. Ever! Work hard, take care of your family, love others, give to the poor and needy. Don't wait for the Obama-Biden handout- taxes will rise and small business will suffer - can't hire people when you can't afford to pay them.

Fair-weathered UT Football Fan

Greetings on a mild day here in East Tennessee. Fall is upon us and can't wait to see the leaves change. I am going backpacking for the first time in the Smokies this weekend with some friends at work. Gonna be pretty cool - I will post some pics. Anyway - not getting off the subject title. I think I am a fair-weathered UT football fan. I did not attend the university -my wife did. I am an ETSU alum and we have no football to speak of. So........being in KnoxVegas... you almost have to like UT football. Something in the air changes when UT football starts up. I like UT football. I want them to beat everyone in the SEC. But, I am no PHAT PHIL FULMER PHAN. The coach has got to go. Almost everyone in the SEC is passing him by. Guess who's leading the SEC East????? Vanderbilt. Guess what - I think they will beat UT this year - I am calling it. Hey, I predicted Ole Miss beating Florida. But getting back to UT - Phil's secret weapon - Crompton - is a joke and so are the people who love a coach that gets paid over 2 MILLION dollars to be mediocre. Music City Bowl here we come. So, until UT gets new coach and try to extend it to someone who's not on the UT family tree. Go after Bob Stoops at Oklahoma. They need to look for the Bruce Pearl of football.
So, maybe one more prediction, since I am so good at it (HA HA). Phil resigns at the end of a 6-6 year. Crossing my fingers.

Bring on NCAA hoops. Go Duke, GO UT basketball.

Joe Biden vs Sarah Palin

I am looking forward to the debates. This is what makes America so wonderful. The Vice Presidential debate is on Oct 2nd. I keep waiting for Joe to stick his foot in his mouth......wait....wait..there it goes.......it happened...Way to go Joe, was wondering how long it would take. Paying higher taxes is Patriotic.... of course the people that make most of the money. Yeah, rich people - be punished for making money and give to those who are less fortunate. INCOME REDISTRIBUTION. Even though the mainstream media won't say it - Obama won't say it - We'll let Joe say it. So, I will pay my taxes as usual, hopefully get tax breaks - Thanks G.W. Bush and continue to be patriotic by voting for McCain / Palin - By the way - the media loves to badger someone when they come from nowhere - and make a name for themselves. Go Sarah go! Plus - she needs to come up w/ new material - I don't like to hear politicians say the same stuff over and over.
Bring on Oct 2nd - just know between now and then - Good ole Joe will spout off at the mouth again and say something stupid.

9/11 and conspiracy theories

Greetings and salutations from a mildly wet Knoxville, 70 degrees and we got some rain. I like rain. Makes things grow.

So watchin the History Channel last night and 9/11 Facts and Myths documentary was on....kind of fascinating. Only because there are many that think our own government was behind it. Let that run around the mind a bit. I think it makes no sense. Plus, Popular Mechanics magazine has debunked every possible myth possible. Thank you Popular Mechanics. So, there are talks of some doc called Loose Change - ooooooooohhhhhhh. Made by some young dude in New York. So, I think I would believe Popular Mechanics instead of 3 kids who happen to believe the opposite. One which I am fascinated with - A missile hit the Pentagon and not a plane with people in it....... so......what happened to the flight if it actually left DC and had people and pilots and stewardess. Where are they now? Brazil? Switzerland? Funny, no one mentions the people who were actually on the plane. Wonder why???? If that question can be answered you might... might have my conspiracy mind wondering. So, put that in your pool and swim in it.

9/11 changed American History as we know it. Being that we are a couple of days away from one of the most tragic events to happen, please take time to pause on 9/11 and remember those who died and all those who were impacted. The devil is at work in some minds to believe the myths about 9/11.

Peace Out!

The World Around Us

Lots and lots of things going on............if you pay attention to the news.....The Press love Obama (not sure why), we embrace the Chinese during the Olympics (my opinion we should boycott) and Russia wants to play hardball and pick on a Pro-Western Country - and this is OK? On a local level, crazy stuff happening. Local elections were a disaster- very low turn-out. Do people care? Doesn't seem like it. The Smith's placed their vote and things turned out ok. I think people are aware of the policital machine and it is runnin full steam ahead. Also, on a sad note. Some nut-job shoots up a church here in town. Of course the liberal leaning News Sentinel, likes to point out - books included Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly (which both I have) and Michael Savage (too crazy for me) and this drove this man crazy - evidently this was his way of getting back to the "liberals" and plus he didn't even have a job......So, this kind of travisty has no place..no where but it happens. We don't know why but it does. It could happen to any of us. Should we be scared to go to church in the bible belt.......maybe.

I wish it was November

Well, for all the mud-slinging going on, the dust has settled. McCain vs Obama. Who will the country promise to lead this country forward??? Hard to say. Personally, I am waiting on who McCain picks as VP. It would be smart, since the "economy" is on the minds of Americans these days, to pick a conservative with good business skills.. Mitt Romney. YEAH! High prices for everything under the sun. Who's to blame? The liberal media would point a finger at none other George W. Bush. Seems like a man who has taken alot on his back, still gets picked on. Plus it's convenient to blame him for 9/11, Katrina, plus the bridge that fell in Minnesota (Dick Cheney did it!) war against terror, high gas prices on and on and on. Please, this is not the New World Order or the Illuminati. It's called 2008, not 1945. It's called protecting Americans and for what the founding fathers based this country on. In God we trust.

We need to drill here and drill now, not next year after the election, not 5 years from now. NOW!! There are a bunch of chickens in Washington that are scared to upset other groups. OPEC (who controls the oil overseas......hate America) I say drill it where we got it. Bring on nuclear power also. Plus, this story about the GOP blocking taxing the oil companies. I agree! Who is buying gas from the 5 richest oil companies.....hmmmm I wonder. Please GMC and HUMMER... bigger cars please !!!!
I would take a train, if there was one around or the bus. Drill here and drill now. Call your congressman and Senate rep and tell them how you feel. $4.00 is insane. It will continue to rise if we don't rise up.

Peace in the Middle East...we need it.

Concert Review 5/12

Greetings and saluations:

another great day in Big Orange Country. We had some rain come through yesterday and the wind whipped around and blew sticks and leaves on my freshly cut lawn!!!! Good to see some family over the weekend. I got fed quite a bit. Food is good.

Anywho, went to some crazy concert on 5/8. Little band called Radiohead in a little town called HOTLANTA! Thanks goes to my homies: DJ, his sis and DJ's lady and The Klicka's! (thanks for getting me home alive) What a concert! Check off one of the things to do before I die. See Radiohead live. Good concert, high cost of beer and good friends. That is like a broken drum...............................can't beat it. Cheers and tally ho for one of the greatest bands on earth. They sounded great and couldn't ask for a better night. Rain showers were in the forcast. It barely rained until the gig was over...

Shout out to MARTA - you know what it is...............

Morning Movie Review 4/16

Hi Baby Audrey!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning.....What a B-E-Autiful day in Knoxvegas. Blue skies and 52 degrees at 10:54 AM EST.

I have been catching a lot of movies recently by staying up late and having a crappy work schedule. So, I caught the following movies and I enjoyed all four. I dislike so much the movies made today. So, I wait....until classics come on or an independent or a movie that catches me by surprise. So, let's see what is in the video vault.

1) Reality Bites: Classic 1994 movie (I graduated college then, so I related) Twentysomethings searching for what to do after graduation. A young Ben Stiller and a cute Winona Ryder.

2) The Prestige: I was a little concerned about a movie about "magicians". But Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale do battle in outdoing each other. Who outlasts who? Watch and find out.

3) Lonesome Jim: This was the movie on after The Prestige and this was my stay up late night. An independent film. With Casey Affleck & Liv Tyler. Directed by Steve Busemi. A very interesting film about a failed writer who moves back with his parents in Indiana from NYC. It is a look at depression, family & love.

4) My favorite....Strange Fiction: Will Ferrell is the man. A mixture of comedy, drama and fantasy. Watch it and follow the life of Harold Crick....TAX MAN!!!! I will admit, it makes me tear up. This was the 2nd time and I still teared up. Sniff Sniff.

That is all for now.

The baby is almost 4 months old and the wife's b-day is tomorrow!!!! Happy B-Day Judi!

Random Thoughts

So, my brain is funky. I think up some crazy stuff, but this is the first time of actually typing it out. So, if you know me, it won't be unusual.

A new resturant called: Whatever you want.........
You could go in and ask for whatever you wanted and it would be fixed for you. Now I know you are asking.... how could a resturant hold everything. Good question.

John McCain is cool & Obama isn't!

I reported a bit ago that it seems cool for people for vote for Obama. Who cares about policies? Obama is cool! Yeah right. Well, there is a little turmoil brewing for the Obama camp. His pastor, Rev. Wright has spouted numerous anti-American sentiments. Now, it is his right to say these things. I wouldn't be sitting in the pew, I will tell you that. So, most of the "liberal" media has not reported this. I know about it and it is sad. Obama has had to distance himself away from this person. So much for a spiritual adviser, mentor and propaganda maker. Thanks Rev. Wright, you might have just costed your buddy the election. Billery vs McCain - Tune in November 2008.

For all you college basketball lovers. March Madness is upon us. Here is why John McCain is now "officially cool". Go to www.johnmccain.com and you can fill out a NCAA bracket and compare it to his, plus win cool prizes.....who doesn't want a McCain pullover.... Now, that is cool.

My final 4: UNC, Kansas, Texas, UCLA
Final Game: Kansas vs UCLA
Winner: KANSAS (Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk)

The Elephant in the room

Enough said. Vote GOP!

Sometimes the ball doesn't go in.........

Basketball is a funny sport. You can be on fire and make your team win. Sometimes you can shoot and the ball just doesn't go in.............I hate when that happens. When both of my favorite teams lose on the same day - back to back, it stinks. I had to drink a couple of beers to easy away the pain. So, NCAA Tournament here we come.....Go UT and Duke. Hope one of y'all make it all the way (win the title, I mean)

Lots of Stuff

Lots of things have been happening. I am now a father. Our little girl is 8 weeks old now and she is awesome. My wife has been doing 99.9 % of the work, so I just come home and try to love on them both.

Other than that. UT Men's Basketball created history last night. 66-62 victory over Memphis (who was #1), UT (was #2). Now UT should be #1 for the first time in UT history. Congrats to Bruce Pearl and and the whole team.
Duke had been #2 and dropped two games in the ACC. Didn't see that coming. Now they are tied w/ UNC for the ACC regular season title. I can't wait for March 6th (last game of the year vs UNC in Cameron Indoor Stadium) GO DUKE!

Local and national politics:
The people in Knox County, TN have been heard. With the levels of the early voting at it's highest, people stood up against the good ole boy network and told them to hit the trail. Kudos to the new local officals. The next election will be in August 2008.
Nationally, as stated before, I was for Fred. Fred is dead. So, being a conservative , I am lost on what to do. Not too happy w/ McCain. Just can't believe that is the best the GOP has. Somehow, I got to figure out..............is it cool to vote for an old politican. All the cool people vote for Obama and have no idea what he stands for......socialism, universal health care, soft on immigration and War on Terror. People need to research and look for the best candidate. Not because they are black or a woman or even a old white man. Vote for the right reasons.

Special shout out to all my homies on the west side. Word is bond.
Take it to the bridge. Son. One.
I am outta here, like last year.
