Knox County Politics

A lot has happened around these parts in the past year. The good ole' boy network is bustin at the seams. Term limits, family appointed commission seats, former bosses in Knox County government getting hired by the person that replaced them. On and on. So, it's been interesting and looks like the County got busted for breaking the Sunshine Law. Surprise! Anyway, they are all in cahoots and some believe they are good people. I think some good people can get carried away w/ greed and the like.
So, hope we get a new election and vote some people out. If you are not registered to vote, go do it. Every vote counts. Locally and nationally.

Peace in Darfur!

Inconvienent Truth and Al Gore

I watched a little documentary over the weekend. I am not sure what to say. The great debate "Global Warming". I believe the debate would over the serverity of what Al Gore had to say. I mean he scared me a little. Greenland, for crying out loud, is melting and the polar bears are drowning. Only IF this happens.... IF the earth does this. blah blah blah. OK, I am a skeptic. I thought it was important to watch and trust me, Al is boring. I mean really boring and he is slightly egotisitcal. I mean he even mentioned losing the election in 2000 and he did not agree w/ the Supreme Court. Still whining is what I call it. So anyway, I think the Earth is getting warmer (just a bit) and we could all do something to help our God created planet. But you know what, if God wanted to destroy the Earth, he would!
I hope most who have watched An Inconvienent Truth, check out Glenn Beck's: Exposed, The Climate of Fear. It is a rebuttal for Al's stuff and you would hardly find any liberal who would watch it. Remember the word fear and see how it's played in Al's movie.
Well, just a reminder: Gore didn't win Tennessee in 2000 and no wonder why. He just opened his mouth and the rest is history......or will there be a history.........???????

Culture Warriors Unite!!!!

Greetings and salutations. Everyone may know by now, I am a conservative. I believe in my principles and it is really hard to be this way in a ever-changing liberal world. The print and major networks are liberal - so I have to be careful how I get my information and be able to think the way I do. I do see on how the media loves to go after people who disagree w/ policies that other states make.
One state I would absolutely refuse to live in. VERMONT. Bill O'Reilly has fought the good fight. Fighting child predator laws. Vermont refuses to pass anything of the sort. They like to rehabilitate instead of put them in jail to think about things. Anyway, the O'Reilly Factor on FOX NEWS @ 8:00 EST and replays at 11:00 EST, tried to talk to a state rep from Vermont about why he passed a law that protects transgender people against discrimination and killed Jessica's law in that state. They of course, there is not reason of why, but evidently Bill is not well liked in Vermont. Because he exposes the truth. But, the local newspaper in the capital, says Bill is a homophobe because the state rep from Vermont is gay. Uh.......... I watched it and Bill never said it once. Here is the gist of what happened:
The Rutland Herald in Vermont wrote this about the interview: "Why would Fox News ambush Bill Lippert, one of the most respected members of the legislature? The answer is as simple as it is unsettling: Rep. Lippert is gay ... Go home, indeed, Mr. O'Reilly." The Factor angrily responded to that accusation: "We never mentioned Bill Lippert's private life in any way. So what the Rutland Herald did was change the subject from the failure to pass Jessica's Law to accusing me of homophobia. It doesn't get more hateful and dishonest than that. The Herald needs to be held accountable, so I'm going to give you some information."

That, my friends is the liberal media at it's best and this is just a small example of why we would be in the fight of our lives..... rise up Culture Warriors!!!!!
And who cares about Vermont. Succeede from the Union!

Two things I cannot live without, subject to change

Hello all my friends across this great land of ours. Couple of things. The weather has been phenomenal here the past couple of days. If it gets above 65 degrees, GIT OUTSIDE AND TAKE ADVANTAGE!!!

Anyway, two things I need in my life right now, I cannot do without.
1) One of those wooden backscratchers shaped like a hand. (crackerbarrell.com) One at work, which I just used.
2) Floss. I have sorta crappy teeth. I am learning at my old age, teeth are important. So, I had some tarter built up on my dentist visit. The dental hygienist, scraped and scraped, drove me nuts. So, I asked, "What is the deal??" She said: Floss. Enough said and I now I am obsessed.
IT WORKS!!!!!

Horses Patutee!

Watch Planet Earth on Discovery or Science Channel. All of them. Fascinating.

Colored Socks and Old People

Now, I know that old guys wear colored socks with their tennis shoes. In my younger days, I thought......WHY does he do that? That doesn't look right. I have noticed a trend in the last few months. I have been wearing colored dress socks w/ my tennis shoes. AAAAAAAHHHH!
I showed a friend of mine when I was out playing some frisbee golf last night. I am just saying, I understand WHY.
1) I don't care
2) Why change socks from the morning based on what kind of shoes I am wearing. I just kept on the same pair of socks.
I had shorts on too and I was out in public.

I wonder if people think I am old?

I kinda am.........

NYC trip

The town so nice, they named it twice. So, I was gone this past weekend to Connecticut, where my sister in law lives. So, the wife and I got to go into the city. It was pretty cool. So, we did all the tourist stuff. Shopped on the street and went to the top of Rockafeller Center building. All in all.. good trip. We had to fly through DC and lo behold, the wife and I were randomly picked for our bags being searched. Now, I am ok with it. But our ticket before we got on the plane was all marked up with secret messages among airport security. So anyway, we obliged. No problem here.

So, here is myself in front of Fox News in NYC, couldn't get in. No tours : (

So, go up to the town that never sleeps, if you get a chance.

Basketball Season almost over

Some people care and some don't about basketball. The NCAA tournament is upon us and half way over. Sniff Sniff. Duke is out, to the joy of a lot of people. UT is still in. YEA! So, I took off a couple of days and relaxed and talked smack about my bracket. If you don't fill out a bracket.. you should.

Anyway, nothing else is going on. Trying to catch a graffiti artist around the area. I think I am going to stay up late one night and try to catch him and make a citizen's arrest. That's for all you Andy Griffith fans.

Peace in Sudan!

A little something called....best movie ever!

1996.........man I wish I could go back in time. I was younger and thinner. The good ole days.. See this movie regardless of anything that prevents you from seeing it. Even if you are not a Billy Bob Thorton fan. - kinda of a weird guy. Hey, aren't we all?

He wrote and directed..................SLING BLADE. The movie is amazing. It really blows my mind. I don't know why, one of my favorite parts is when he orders french fried potatoes at the Frosty Cream after he gets out of the nervous hospital. Poor Karl asks for biscuits first. But the guy taking the order is classic...... who is this actor?- He should have been awarded some kind of Hollywood award.

Anyway, it is a story of a complex man and his bid to survive in the real world.

alright then.

The pressure of Valentimes Day

I am like a pressure cooker about to explode. BOOM! I will tell y'all why. Yesterday at work... I get hounded.... what are you doing for Valentines... etc....... blah blah blah. I kept saying it was private. Sounds sexy. uhhhh no. I was keeping it under wraps. But, anyway. I just told people to leave me alone. So, guys fall under tremendous pressure to be the MAN. So, made a card with some color paper and The unknown poet wrote a poem for my wife. AWWWWW. The chocolate factory is the bomb too. Anyway, I have figured it out. Boys, better make the mrs. happy on this day and all things will be good.

This one is for my homie A.K. It's never too late. HA HA

PS about the title, Valentimes (hillbilly pronounciation)

I lothe the UNC Tarheels

Hate is such a strong word. So, I decided to go w/ lothe. It's fun to say. LOTHE...
My team, the much hated DUKE BLUE DEVILS played the UNC Tarheels.
UNC 79
DUKE 73

CRAP! This game kills me, because it's three losses in a row and it was at home. If you have never watched a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, which holds a little over 9,000 fans, then you gotta see it.
If not, be a Tarheel fan, like everyone else.

I shall get revenge on all those who make fun of me when DUKE loses.

I wish I was a Cameron Crazy.

Good and Bad Sports

Well, another Super Duper Bowl has come and went and all of Tennessee is happy for Peyton Manning. Colts fan?... Sorry, I can't be one. Congrats to Peyton and all... but I can't wait until all the stuff in our paper about him goes away. So anyway, the point I want to make is, there are good weekends in sports and bad ones. I had a bad one this weekend. ALL WEEKEND LONG. At least one loss was expected.. maybe two... but not all three. No siree BOB. Who is BOB anyway?
UT lost to Florida (who is #1 in the nation)
Duke lost to Florida St (what is it about dang the state of Florida)
Chicago lost to Indianapolis (didn't really care about that one)

So, I have to swallow my pride and stick up for myself. When you pull for certain teams and they get their buttocks handed to them. Welcome to Hades.

Keep it real, even when it goes wrong.

What did I want to blog?

This is truly a sign of getting old. Forgetting what I wanted to say................... Oh well. Oh, I remember. The weather out here is kinda funny. One day 70 degrees, next day snow, ice. TURMOIL. It is so funny to know that milk and bread are our lifeline to survive anything that requires staying home. I actually HAD to go to the store last night (due to getting paid in full) and get... you guessed it BEER! No, really. BEER. Ok for real. Milk and bread... other stuff too. But there were slim pickens on the milk. EVERYBODY NEEDED MILK. The weatherman scared us with some snow and we got a dusting. Not blaming him... just Knoxville's geographic location. So, let it snow, let is snow. Whenever. However much. I just need my milk and bread.

ELEPHANT FOUND!

I was away for what felt like two weeks. Now I am back, ready to take on the year and kick some booty. Anyway, the elephant was returned unharmed and has returned to my monitor. Life can proceed forward.

Anyway, politics getting ugly again. I am ready for it. I am joining......drumroll please........ The Karns Republican Club. Here comes my bowtie. (you know I have been wanting to wear one) I am ready to fight the good fight.

Anyway, that is all for now. STOP.

Peace in the Middle East.
